Can Adelaide win the flag in '07

October 19th 2006 00:39
Adelaide has suffered preliminary final defeats in the past two years and their chance to win a premiership with this group may have passed by.

Coach Neil Craig doesn't subscribe to the premiership window theory, however the window could already be shut.

Stars Andrew McLeod, Tyson Edwards, Simon Goodwin and skipper Mark Ricciuto are nearing the end of their careers, with Ricciuto indicating he is approaching next season as his last in the AFL.

The Crows will be minus a quality ruckman next season, with Rhett Biglands sidelined with a serious knee injury, Matthew Clarke retired.

While Craig has Ben Hudson at his disposal, he too is recovering from a knee injury and youngster Ivan Maric remains an unknown quantity, and as St Kilda has demonstrated under the reign of former coach Grant Thomas, it is very difficult to win a premiership without an elite tap ruckmen.

So can the Crows put behind them the heartbreak of consecutive preliminary final defeats and make a genuine push for the flag in '07?
