The AFL's investment in the development of the game at grassroots level in the northern states is paying dividends, with six Queenslanders named in the top 30 prospect list for the national draft on Saturday.
The list compiled by AFL national talent manager Kevin Sheehan, included David Armitage, Ricky Petterd, Albert Proud, Brent Renouf, Kurt Tippett and Gavin Urquhart.
Victoria boasted more players than any other state with nine, while Queensland and Western Australia had six players represented.
Many AFL experts predict a record number of Queensland draftees in the 2006 NAB AFL Draft.
A record six Queenslanders were selected in the 2005 draft bettering the four chosen in 2004.
