Charges Laid:
Ray Hall, Richmond, has been charged with a Level Three engaging in rough conduct offence against Damien Peverill, Essendon, during the second quarter of the Round 21 match between Richmond and Essendon, played at the MCG on Saturday August 26, 2006.
In summary, he accept a one-game sanction with an early plea.
The incident was assessed as reckless conduct (two points), medium impact (two points), in play (no points) and high contact (two points). Contact between the Western Bulldogs' Brett Montgomery and St Kilda's Nick Dal Santo from the first quarter of Friday's match was reviewed. Montgomery bumped Dal Santo and although contact took the St Kilda player high, it was not deemed to be a reportable offence. No further action was required.
Contact between Geelong's Steve Johnson and Melbourne's Matthew Whelan from the first quarter of Saturday's match was reviewed. Johnson attempted to kick the ball and made contact with Whelan's head as he did so. The contact was considered accidental and no further action was required.
Contact between Geelong's Steve Johnson and Melbourne's Ben Holland from the fourth quarter of Saturday's match was reviewed. Johnson and Holland collide in a front-on bump for the ball. Although Johnson makes some contact to the face and head of Holland, it was not deemed to be a reportable offence. No further action was required.
The match day report laid against Collingwood's Alan Didak was reviewed. It was the view of the Match Review Panel that Scotland took possession of the ball and Didak began to moved towards him from the side and slightly behind the Carlton player. Scotland first realised his opponent was approaching when he was approximately two metres away. Didak had positioned himself to bump and had his arm and shoulder tucked in for contact. Scotland attempted to avoid contact but unfortunately contact was made to his head. Despite the high contact, Didak's action was viewed as a legitimate attempt to bump. Therefore, the contact to the head was considered accidental and the action was not considered to be a reportable offence.
The match day report laid against Carlton's Brendan Fevola was reviewed. It was the view of the Match Review Panel that Fevola made an open-hand grab around the neck of Swan. His action was not deemed to be reportable.
