AFL to use four boundary umpires
July 18th 2008 00:03
AFL umpiring manager Jeff Gieschen announced on Thursday that four boundary umpires will officiate in each match of this year's finals series.
Gieschen also revealed that the AFL will use four boundary umpires in rounds 21 and 22 to give the umpires a chance to familiarise themselves with the new system.
The former Richmond coach said the extra umpires would ‘ensure that we can be in the best possible position for all line decisions’.
