Buckley rules out coaching in '09

FORMER Collingwood captain Nathan Buckley has ruled out being an assistant coach at an AFL club next season.
Buckley was approached by West Coast to be a possible assistant coach next season as the Eagles try and recover from a horror season.
The 2003 Brownlow medallist said he would be honouring media contracts that extended to next year and that he would not make a decision on a future involvement with a club for another 12 months.
"I'll be better placed about this time next year to consider other options, and obviously whether I want to pursue a coaching career," Buckley said.
Buckley, who has long been perceived as the next senior coach of Collingwood following Mick Malthouse said he would work at another club in an assistant role first if he was to get into coaching in the future.
"As I've said all along, I've got a career plan and if I decide to coach, my starting point will be at a club other than Collingwood," Buckley said.
"I think you need to be at a different environment."
