BLAKE Caracella has quit Collingwood to join Geelong's coaching panel.
Caracella has spent the past three seasons with the Magpies as an assistant coach.
In a 10-year playing career with Essendon, Brisbane and the Pies, the 32-year-old booted 218 goals in 187 games and played in premierships with the Bombers in 2000 and the Lions in 2003.
Caracella has strong connections with the Cats' coaching staff - in his first two seasons with the Bombers – 1997 and 1998 – Geelong coach Mark Thompson was an assistant to Kevin Sheedy.
He was also a premiership teammate of Cats assistant coach Nigel Lappin at Brisbane.
Geelong football operations manager Neil Balme said the club was thrilled to have secured the services of Caracella.
"Blake has shown himself to be an innovative and progressive thinker and we feel he will work well with our players and coaches," Balme said.
"He has experience working and playing under some of the AFL's best coaches and we are excited about what he will bring to our club."
