GEELONG has moved into second spot on the AFL ladder with an 81-point demolition of Brisbane at the Gabba on Saturday night.
The Cats got the early jump before going on to record a 24.11 (155) to 10.14 (74) win.
The Lions have now lost their past four matches.
Steve Johnson was best afield with six goals while Paul Chapman (34 possessions), Joel Selwood (32) and James Bartel (32) were damaging in the middle.
Gary Ablett racked up 31 disposals but only nine of those were kicks.
Tom Hawkins returned to form with four majors while Shannon Byrnes and Cameron Mooney chipped in with three apiece.
Matthew Scarlett kept Brendan Fevola to just one goal while Mathew Stokes was a solid performer in his first game of the season after serving a club-imposed suspension for being charged with cocaine possession and trafficking in February, collecting 22 touches.
For Brisbane, Simon Black (23 possessions) battled valiantly while captain Jonathan Brown and Justin Sherman kicked three goals each.
Geelong will now take on ladder leader Collingwood at the MCG next Friday night while the Lions will attempt to get their season back on track against Adelaide at AAMI Stadium next Sunday.
