Cats on top
June 12th 2007 03:21
Two wins in Adelaide in three weeks - a place where they have an atrocious record in recent times, and top spot on the AFL ladder at the halfway mark of the season.
Things couldn't be travelling more smoothly for Geelong coach Mark Thompson after the disaster that was 2006.
Top spot on the AFL ladder is something of a rarity for the Cats - they have only been on top of the AFL ladder during the season twice in the past ten years.
But will it last? They have a solid ruck combination that is combining together beautifully and keeping Steven King out of the side, a settled back six, some class through the middlle - with Gary Ablett Jnr leading from the front and the most potent forward line in the competition.
Geelong in 2007 looks to be the real deal. But as we all know, premierships are not won during the middle of the season. Just look at the Adelaide side of 2006 - a unit that many considered to be the most dominant side in recent memory.
So can Geelong go all the way in '07, or will they once again show an abundance of promise and fail to deliver when it really counts?
Have your say.
