Cats thump Tigers

GEELONG has responded to a disappointing loss to Carlton last Monday by thumping Richmond to the tune of 108 points at Skilled Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
It was a case of men playing against boys as the Cats did as they pleased from the outset, slamming on seven goals without reply in the opening stanza before going on to record a 24.17 (161) to 7.11 (53) victory.
Joel Selwood (36 possessions) and Paul Chapman (33, two goals) were superb in the middle while Steve Johnson, Cameron Mooney and mature-age recruit James Podsiadly did the damage up forward with five majors apiece.
For the Tigers, Jack Riewoldt kicked three goals while Shane Tuck (38 disposals) and Brett Deledio (34) tried hard all day.
Geelong will now face ladder leaders Sydney at Skilled Stadium next Sunday while Richmond will take on fellow winless side Adelaide at AAMI Stadium.
