Cooney signs new deal with Dogs

May 11th 2010 03:36

STAR Western Bulldogs midfielder Adam Cooney has signed a new three-year deal with the Bulldogs which will see him remain at Whitten Oval until at least the end of 2013.

The 2008 Brownlow medallist - who confirmed on Tuesday his management had been contacted by the Gold Coast - was delighted to have secured his future with the Dogs.

"My wife's pretty settled over here and I've got family over here and the kids go to school - everyone's pretty happy. I've got a house over here now so I'm settled in pretty well to the Melbourne lifestyle," Cooney said.

"I think I'll be 27 or 28 coming out of contract, so 10 years at the club which is fantastic."

"Hopefully I will have another couple of years left after that."

Taken with pick one in the 2003 national draft, Cooney has played 142 games since making his debut in round one, 2004.
