Crawford, Croad to be monitored

HAWTHORN will monitor the knees of veteran midfielder Shane Crawford and key defender Trent Croad before deciding whether they will be fit to take on Brisbane at Aurora Stadium in Launceston next Sunday.
Crawford, who played just his third game since round eight on Friday night finished with 16 disposals and remains a week-to-week proposition, according to Hawthorn coach Alastair Clarkson.
"He'll obviously recover from that game and we'll make a decision again on Monday," he said.
"If he recovers well he'll play again next week, if he doesn't he'll have a rest for a week and hopefully play the week after."
Croad hurt his knee in the third quarter but finished the game on the field.
"(He) twisted awkwardly and felt a bit uncomfortable with it," Clarkson said.
Meanwhile, Clarkson said he was pleased with how well his side started against a Collingwood side that was desperate to arrest its form slump.
The Hawks booted six goals to one in the opening quarter to set up their 14th win of the season.
"They would have been disappointed with their last couple weeks' form as we were ourselves," he said.
"We knew the start of the game would really set the pattern and trend for the day and to for us to get away to a good start was really pleasing."
The Hawks were briefly challenged in the third term but responded by booting nine of the last 11 goals of the game to run out 54-point winners.
"To respond the manner they did and run away with the win was really pleasing because we knew it would be a real tough contest," he said.
"Collingwood with their backs against the wall are probably the most dangerous side in the competition."
"To get a convincing victory like that was a real credit to how our guys carried out the game."
