Dees can cover for injured McLean

MELBOURNE has the depth to cover the loss of rugged onballer Brock McLean, according to midfielder Nathan Jones.
McLean injured his ankle in the Demons' thrilling one-point win over Brisbane at the MCG on Sunday afternoon and will miss the remainder of the season.
Jones admitted that the loss of McLean was a “shattering” blow but said that the Demons have enough depth in the midfield to cover the loss of the 22-year-old, who is seen as a future captain of the club.
“Obviously Jimmy McDonald would come back in and I’d assume he’d play a midfield role and then there’s Brucey [Cameron Bruce] who’s an established midfielder within the competition,” Jones said.
“We’ve got plenty of other options … it’s going to give other blokes the opportunity to come in.”
Jones said younger players such as Shane Valenti and Simon Buckley would also be given greater opportunities to cement their places in the side.
