Demons sign new sponsor

MELBOURNE chief executive Cameron Schwab says the club is not out of the financial woods just yet despite signing a three-year deal with Hankook Tyres on Thursday.
As part of the deal the Hankook logo will appear on the front of the jumper while the club is still searching for a sponsor to feature on the back of the jumper.
The Hankook deal is believed to be worth around $2 million over three years but Schwab said the club still had a long way to go to secure its future.
"One sponsor doesn't secure the future of a football club," Schwab said.
"What this is about is this is a very important step in an overall process to making sure this club never finds itself in this position ever again."
"The critical thing is we operate at a profit or close to a profit and had it not been for our debt demolition last year would have lost over $3 million but at this stage we are tracking okay but we have got a season to play yet."
Melbourne president Jim Stynes said signing a major sponsor had taken a lot of pressure off the club.
"Obviously there has been a fair bit of pressure and the last three months everyone has been asking how are you going with (signing) a sponsor," he said.
"And we are confident we will have a second joint partner on board before the season starts."
"But it is a great relief, the players have been playing without a logo on the jumper and it just gives more confidence knowing they have got some strong support behind them."
Stynes also said he was confident that the club could turn its fortunes around on the field after a promising pre-season.
"Last year was obviously one of the worst years in our history and we have been very critical of ourselves," Stynes said.
"But the one thing we are looking for this year is improvement and the boys know that and they have already shown that in pre-season."
"And I would say every player that has had a run in last three weeks has shown improvement and that is a great place for us to be in."
