Destiny in our hands: Lyon

ST KILDA's destiny is now in its own hands after downing fellow top-eight contenders Carlton by 32 points at the MCG on Friday night, according to coach Ross Lyon.
The Saints have now won three in a row but Lyon admitted there was still plenty of work to do.
"This does put a four-point gap between them (Carlton), but it is only fleeting, really," Lyon said.
"All it means is we have won and we get an opportunity with seven games to go to control our own destiny. That is really what it means."
St Kilda now sits a game clear in eighth position and equal on points with Collingwood and Adelaide, who play each other at the MCG today, and the Brisbane Lions.
The Saints dominated for most of the night and led by 33 points heading into the final change but the Blues came out firing in the final term, slamming on the first four goals to close to within seven points with ten minutes left on the clock.
Lyon said he was pleased with how his side responded to Carlton's challenge in the final stanza.
"We knew they would come, we knew they would roll the dice and we let them off the chain a little bit," Lyon said.
"They are a good side, so they are going to come at some point and we had spent a lot of bikkies. The concern was it changed so quickly, it happened within 10 minutes. It went from 33 to seven and there was a lot to play.
"It was going to be a test of character for us and we came through the test, which was really important.
"Our last quarter last week was really good on a big ground, and it was a big ground tonight so we are getting more and more confidence in our running.
"We had a lot people go through midfield tonight and that is a good sign for us."
The Saints face the highly-rated Hawthorn next Saturday night at Telstra Dome in a game which Lyon said would give his side a good idea of how much they have improved.
"We have got a really formidable opposition in Hawthorn next week. They are a measuring stick, so we will see where we are at," Lyon said.
"The group really enjoyed being at the MCG tonight in front of a big crowd; it was really pleasing for the players and the club because it was going to be a test of character for us and we came through the test."
