Dockers down Swans
May 22nd 2010 08:36
FREMANTLE has recorded its first win over Sydney at the SCG since 1996, downing the Swans by 37 points on Saturday afternoon.
The Dockers led at every change before posting a 14.16 (100) to 9.9 (63) win.
It was an impressive performance by Mark Harvey’s men given the drama surrounding Michael Johnson’s drug charge earlier in the week.
The result sees Fremantle improve to 7-2 while Sydney has now lost three matches on the trot to slip to 5-4.
And to make matters worse for the Swans, hard-running defender Tadhg Kennelly and spearhead Daniel Bradshaw suffered knee injuries.
Dockers skipper Matthew Pavlich was dominant early, booting three first-half goals while David Mundy (25 possessions) and youngster Nathan Fyfe (23) were prominent.
Paul Hasleby (16 disposals, two goals) and Kepler Bradley (15 disposals, 10 hit-outs and two goals) were also among Fremantle's best.
For the Swans, Nick Malceski and Daniel Hannebery collected 28 touches each while Gary Rohan was lively with 15 touches and one goal in just his third game.
