FREMANTLE has strung together back-to-back wins for the first time this season with a 28-point win over Port Adelaide at AAMI Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
The Dockers got the early jump and survived several challenges from Port, evenutually prevailing 20.9 (129) to 15.11 (101).
Fremantle shared the load up forward in the absence of injured skipper Matthew Pavlich with a club record 16 individual goalkickers. Rhys Palmer continued his impressive debut season with a team-high 31 possessions and one goal while Ryan Crowley was also influential with 28 disposals and two goals.
For Port, Kane Cornes (39 possessions) tried hard all day while Justin Westhoff and skipper Warren Tredrea booted four goals apiece.
The Dockers did as they pleased against a flat and undiscplined Port side in the first term.
Their willingness to move the football quickly through the middle paid dividends as they slammed on six unanswered goals to take a commanding 36-point lead into quarter-time.
The Power finally got on the scoreboard when Dean Brogan kicked truly just two minutes into the second quarter.
It sparked the Power into action with Tredrea and Westhoff damaging up forward in the second term, booting three and two goals respectively for the quarter to get Port to within 13 points of the Dockers at the main break.
Westhoff was proving to be a handful up forward and kicked the first two goals of the second term and when Domenic Cassisi goaled on the run the Power had hit the front for the first time in the match and seemingly had all the momentum.
But Fremantle responded, taking control of the midfield as they slammed on seven of the next eight goals to take a 27-point lead into the final change.
The Dockers then maintained their advantage in a free-flowing, goal-for-goal fourth term to seal just their fourth win of the season.
