ESSENDON has upset St Kilda by 12 points at Etihad Stadium on Sunday.
The Bombers' 14.9 (93) to 11.15 (81) victory was their second in as many matches against the Saints after they handed Ross Lyon's men their first loss of 2009 in round 20.
The Dons now have three wins on the board this season while St Kilda slips to 5-3 after their second successive loss.
Some off the gloss was taken off the win for Essendon with promising young key defender Cale Hooker suffering a hamstring injury in the second quarter while David Hille was reported for rough conduct against Brendon Goddard in the first term.
Hille didn't let having his name put in the book affect him, finishing with four goals while Patrick Ryder chimed in with three majors - including the sealer.
Veteran defender Dustin Fletcher continued his superb run of form while skipper Jobe Watson was influential with 25 possessions.
For the Saints, Nick Dal Santo bounced back from a disappointing performance against Carlton last Monday night with 32 disposals while Lenny Hayes (33) and Leigh Montagna (31) also won plenty of the football.
Michael Gardiner and Justin Koschitzke kicked three goals each.
