Eagles fined by AFL

WEST COAST has been fined $5000 by the AFL for using a mobile phone on the ground during the three-quarter time break of last Saturday's loss to North Melbourne at Etihad Stadium.
Eagles ruckmen Dean Cox and Nic Naitanui used the phone to speak with the club's ruck coach Simon Eastaugh who had not travelled with the team.
Under section 13 of the AFL Regulations clubs are not permitted to use any form of communications device either during the match or at quarter breaks within the playing arena.
Clubs can be sanctioned up to $25,000 per breach.
AFL football operations manager Adrian Anderson said that in imposing a fine at the lower end of the scale the league had accepted the breach was inadvertent and took into account West Coast's admission and apology.
