Fevola contract talks on hold

CARLTON chief executive Greg Swann has revealed that contract negotiations with star forward Brendan Fevola will be postponed until the end of the season.
But Swann said the delay did not mean the Blues were not confident that Fevola would remain with the club next season.
"It is not a matter of being too far away from an agreement," Swann said in a club statement on Monday.
"It is more about the media attention being given to the discussions and we are keen to ensure our focus is on the remaining games of the season."
Swann said by putting contract talks on hold the club and Fevola would be able to focus on keeping their slim finals hopes alive.
"We all believe it is in the best interests of Brendan and also the Carlton team to put further talks on hold until after the season," Swann said.
"We are keen to ensure our focus is on the remaining games of the season to provide the best opportunity for the continued development of our young playing list."
