Financial boost for Port

PORT ADELAIDE has received a major financial boost with the SANFL confirming it will improve the club's AAMI Stadium deal.
AFL chief executive Andrew Demetriou announced the news at a packed media conference on Wednesday afternoon.
Demetriou said he was confident a deal would be struck but refused to speculate when conditions would improve.
"Whatever solution we come up with has to be a long-term, sustainable solution, this is not a bandaid. We are trying to come up with a package that takes this football club into the future with some certainty so they can plan accordingly," Demetriou said.
"I don't put timeframes on things because then you guys hold us to timeframes. All I'll say to you is we are all committed to getting this done. It's more important to get this done rather than get hung up on a timeframe."
Demetriou also believes the Power has already bottomed out financially.
"I don't think there's more pain to come they have pretty much bottomed out so far as what they know their result is going to be," he said.
"Port Adelaide can work their way through this issue together with the help of the SANFL and the AFL – we are all committed to working together to make sure we can get Port Adelaide back as a strong football club off the field."
"I have no doubt we'll get there, I've assured everybody there have been other clubs that have been in a very similar position ...you can turn a football club around."
"They've certainly got the support of the SANFL which is the most important thing."
Demetriou also indicated the league will offer 'support' but he didn't elaborate further.
