ESSENDON defender Dustin Fletcher could miss up to eight matches with a broken leg.
Fletcher suffered the injury during the Bombers' 43-point loss to Brisbane at the Gabba on Saturday night.
The club initially thougt that Fletcher injured his ankle when he was brought down in a tackle by Brisbane's Mitch Clark but X-rays revealed that he has a cracked left fibula.
The 33-year-old will have a CAT scan on Monday morning that will determine how many weeks he will miss.
The best case scenario would see the 300-game veteran miss three to four games.
