ESSENDON has received some good news with veteran defender Dustin Fletcher's leg injury not as bad as first thought.
The club initially feared that Fletcher would miss up to eight weeks after he broke the fibula in his leg during his 300th game against Brisbane at the Gabba on Saturday night.
But Essendon football operations manager Paul Hamilton said a scan on Monday revealed that Fletcher had only suffered a hairline fracture of the fibula and not a full break.
The injury is expected to sideline the 33-year-old for just three to four matches.
