Fox Footy no more come September
August 23rd 2006 05:39
The Fox Footy channel will cease to exist after the last Saturday in September, ending a five-year relationship with the AFL.
AFL Chief Executive Officer Andrew Demetriou said that all eight matches will be broadcast on Channel Seven and Ten next year and for the lifetime of the five-year deal, on free-to-air television.
"Our agreement provides for up to four matches per week to be licensed to a pay-tv operator, should Seven and Ten reach an arrangement with any pay-tv carrier," Demetriou said.

Do you know how the deal will work if Channels 7 and 10 are showing all 8 games? Since often two games are on simultaneously, will they both show a game at the same time?
Do you also happen to know how many games will be shown in NSW?

The latest news is that both Seven and Ten have turned to SBS to televise Friday night games live into Sydney and Brisbane, this is still unofficial but will update you when more comes to hand over the coming week.

I am a vcitorian who lives in NSW and is still an avid Carlton Supporter, Fox Footy Channel was the only place where you could get all the available up-to-date AFL information plus lots more.
All the commerical channels will do is show games on weekends and that is all.
Fox Footy has been a great channel for 5 years and there are many of us who live interstate who will miss what they gave.

yes it is a great tragedy, i personally only just started watching fox footy this year, but loved it especially white line fever and on the couch.
believe that there is still a possibility fox sports 3 will be showing games next season, still very much up in the air
