FREMANTLE has sent off retiring veteran Shaun McManus in style with a 33-point win over West Coast at Subiaco Oval on Sunday.
The Dockers were challenged briefly in the second half but had all the answers, eventually prevailing 17.14 (116) to 12. 11 (83).
The victory was Fremantle's third in a row and sees them move to 13th place on the AFL ladder.
Fremantle skipper Matthew Pavlich won the Ross Glendinning Medal for his 22 possessions and four goals. Luke McPharlin was equally damaging up forward with five majors while Byron Schammer, Josh Carr and McManus were busy contributors in the middle, racking up 20-plus possessions.
For West Coast, Mark LeCras was lively across half-forward with four goals while ruckman Dean Cox and Steven Armstrong tried hard all day, racking up 25 and 24 possessions respectively.
The Eagles started brightly, booting three goals in as many minutes to skip out to an 11-point lead at the eight-minute mark.
But from thereonin the Dockers dominated, piling on eight goals in 19 minutes with McPharlin and Pavlich booting three for the term to give Fremantle a commanding 31-point lead at quarter-time.
Fremantle's 9.2 (55) quarter-time score was their best-ever first term score against the Eagles.
The Dockers applied immense pressure all over the ground in the first half and punished the Eagles for their poor use of the football, booting four goals to two in the second term to extend their lead to 41 points at the main break.
West Coast lifted their intensity in the second half and hit back with two goals from LeCras and a major from Ben McKinley to close to within 25 points.
But Fremantle lifted and added four goals, including two from Kepler Bradley to take a match-winning 45-point lead into the final change.
The sting was well and truly out of the conest in the last quarter, with West Coast booting the only two goals of the final stanza to add some respectability to the scoreboard.
