Hamstring injury sidelines Burgoyne

March 3rd 2010 09:48

PRIZED Hawthorn recruit Shaun Burgoyne is in doubt for round one after suffering a hamstring injury at training on Wednesday.

The former Port Adelaide midfielder, who is yet to make his debut in the brown and gold, underwent scans which revealed a low-grade tear.

Hawks football operations manager Mark Evans said the club would be conservative in its approach to the injury.

"The original plan was to play Shaun in round four of the pre-season program but now that won't obviously happen," Evans said in a statement.

"The club does not expect it to be a lengthy delay though."
