Has Peter Everitt played his last game for Hawthorn: Have your say
August 22nd 2006 03:20
The relationship between Peter Everitt and the Hawthorn Football Club has been dealt another blow, with the ruckman meeting Hawks officials today and expected to be fined for his role as a guest commentator on Fox Footy.
It was revealed in today's Age newspaper that Everitt failed to inform the club of his role as a commentator, and left the club and coach Alistair Clarkson embarassed after he took part in a live interview Clarkson, who had been unaware of his presence as a commentator.
I think that he should have told the Hawks of his role as a commentator for the game, how hard is it to pick up a phone and inform the club.
Personally I think he has played his last game in the brown and gold, this is the straw that broke the camel's back in a relationship that has been deteriorating for some months now.
Maybe this will be the end of Everitt's career? I dont know, but how many clubs will be willing to recruit a ruckman at 32, Sydney was tipped as a frontrunner, but Spida has made it abundantly clear that he wouldn't live in the harbour city.
At the moment it seems like his only option if he is serious about contuining his AFL career.
With Everitt all but gone, I think out of favour Eagles ruckman Michael Gardiner will be at Glenferrie Oval next season.
