Hawks induct four

March 20th 2009 23:12
HAWTHORN legend Dermott Brereton was one of four inductees into the club's Hall of Fame on Friday night.

Peter Crimmins, John Peck and administrator Brian Coleman were the other three inclusions, which were announced at the club's season launch.

Brereton, who is regarded as one of the greatest centre-half forwards of all time played 189 games for the Hawks and won five flags.

Former rover Crimmins was a part of the 1971 premiership and captained the Hawks in his final two years at the club.

Crimmins, who played 176 games for the Hawks contracted cancer in 1974.

He fought back to play again but succumbed to the disease again and died aged 28, just days after the team won the 1976 premiership.

Peck still holds the record of being the youngest Hawk to make his debut, playing his first game at the age of 16 in 1954.

He booted 475 goals in 213 games and won the Coleman Medal three successive times from 1963-1965.

Coleman was an influential adminstrator for over 45 years.

The club's Hall of Fame which was established in 2003 now has 28 members.
