Hodge free to play

HAWTHORN vice-captain Luke Hodge is free to play in Saturday night's clash against Sydney after being cleared of striking Geelong forward Tom Lonergan.
The match review panel ruled that Hodge made a legitimate attempt to spoil and had his eyes on the ball when he accidentally made contact to Lonergan's face in a marking contest.
However the news isn't as good for Hodge's teammate Simon Taylor who is facing a three-match suspension for kneeing Geelong midfielder Joel Selwood.
The incident was ruled as intentional, low impact and high contact, which equates to 325 points and a three-match ban.
But if Taylor pleads guilty he can escape with 243.75 points and a two-match ban.
The Hawthorn ruckman was also cleared over another clash with Geelong star Gary Ablett in the first quarter of Friday night's clash at the MCG.
In other tribunal news, the match-day reports against Max Rooke and Andrew Mackie were both thrown out.
Geelong forward Steve Johnson was booked for attempting to strike Hodge but he can accept a reprimand.
Carlton midfielder Kade Simpson can also accept a reprimand for making forceful front-on contact to Richmond's Daniel Jackson, while Sydney star Adam Goodes was fined for making negligent contact with an umpire.
Meanwhile, no action was taken over incidents involving Brisbane's Josh Drummond and West Coast's Ashley Hansen and North's Drew Petrie and Melbourne skipper James McDonald.
The match-day report laid against Port ruckman Dean Brogan for engaging in rough conduct against Essendon's Andrew Lovett is still being investigated.
