I let the club down, says Grant

NORTH MELBOURNE veteran Shannon Grant has admitted he let his club and coach down with poor off-field behaviour.
Grant will miss Saturday night's clash against Port Adelaide at AAMI Stadium after being handed a one-match ban by the club for poor behaviour at a recent club golf day.
"It's a bit embarrassing more than anything, I let the club down, my teammates down and the coach as well, especially considering the way he came out and backed me in a couple of weeks ago," Grant told the Nine Network.
Kangaroos president James Brayshaw said he was glad the 31-year-old had shown remorse for his actions.
"It's not a good situation, I think Shannon's handled it really well," Brayshaw said.
"I think the situation is he knows why he's been suspended, he's disappointed with his actions.
"The most important thing is (coach Dean Laidley) very publicly defended him and he's let him down, he owed him an apology and I'm glad he made it."
Laidley responded to questioning about Grant's poor form last month by saying the 293-game veteran would never be dropped to the VFL while he was coach.
Grant has previously stated he is unsure as to whether or not he will play in in 2009.
