In the back rule

April 17th 2009 11:16
Can some one please explain the definition of in the back , is the rule there to give a free kick to someone who has been impeded and or been disadvantaged in his persuit of the ball, I would suggest that yes this woulld be the case, BUT how often do you see players that go to the ground or dive into the ball and deliberatley going to ground and someone has come in to keep the ball in or touch them on there way down of which they chose to go to ground and as they are on the ground and can go no further other than to dig a hole and push them further, then how can this be in the back and warrant a frre kick ??????, please check Simon Black free kick second Qtr Collingwood , brisbane simon black was going to ground collinwood player barely touched him , A FREE KICK I THINK NOT

get this soughted out

The issue rasied is symptomatic of a general decline in umpiring standards. Umpires are inconsistent in the free kicks they pay with the result that they influence the outcomes of games. I am amazed that players actually continue to play as the rules (or their interpretation) seems to change not only week-by-week but also during the course of a game.

The almost sacred station of umpires is unbeleivable - how can anyone improve without constructive criticism (even if they watched replays of games with coaches and not as part of an internal review)? When the police do something wrong they are open to criticism but umpires are a total no-go zone.
Bring back Geoff Crouch - his ashes could do a better job than the curent crew.
