SYDNEY SWANS youngster Patrick Veszpremi will miss the first eight weeks of the 2009 season after being booked in for finger surgery.
Veszpremi, who ruptured his finger flexor tendon against Adelaide last Friday night at AAMI Stadium, will undergo surgery early next week and is expected to be able to participate in running activities within 10 days after surgery.
The 19-year-old, who was the Swans' first round selection at No.11 overall in the 2007 national draft, made six senior appearances in his debut season last year.
