RICHMOND midfielder Kane Johnson is set to miss the start of the season after undergoing knee surgery on Thursday.
The former Tigers skipper underwent an arthroscopy after suffering ongoing issues with his knee which he injured in the NAB Cup loss to Collingwood at Etihad Stadium last Thursday night.
"He has sustained only minor damage to his cartilage but it will require a clean up," said club doctor Greg Hickey.
"I would expect he would be out of action for several weeks."
