CibbuanoKennedy cleared over Sylvia bump

WEST COAST key forward Josh Kennedy has avoided sanction for his bump on Colin Sylvia which left the Melbourne midfielder with a broken jaw which is expected to sideline him for the first four weeks of the season.
The match review panel assessed Kennedy's shepherd on Sylvia during the third quarter of Saturday's NAB Challenge match at Casey Fields and determined it was within the rules.
"Kennedy did not run far to apply the bump, an elbow was not part of the contact and Kennedy did not leave the ground to deliver the bump," the panel said.
"Sylvia was not in a vulnerable position and could reasonably expect contact to be made. The contact was therefore deemed to not be unreasonable in the circumstances."
Meanwhile, Carlton tagger Aaron Joseph has been charged with striking Adelaide youngster Jared Petrenko in Friday's match at Visy Park and can accept a reprimand and 93.75 demerit points towards his future record with an early guilty plea.
Western Bulldogs veteran Nathan Eagleton was charged with attempting to trip Saint Farren Ray during the third quarter of Saturday night's NAB Cup grand final.
Eagleton can accept a reprimand and 72 points towards his future record with an early plea.
If he elects to contest the charge at the tribunal and is unsuccessful he will still be available for the round one clash against Collingwood.
The match-day report against Brisbane recruit Amon Buchanan for front-on contact against Hawthorn's Xavier Ellis in the practice match at Southport was thrown out with the panel ruling that Buchanan had no realistic alternative way to contest the ball.
