SYDNEY defender Tadhg Kennelly has quit the club to return home to Ireland.
Kennelly, who won a premiership with the Swans in 2005 now wants to return to Ireland to play Gaelic Football for County Kerry while he's still capable.
The 27-year-old, who advised the club of his intentions on Thursday morning, admitted it was one of the hardest things he has ever had to do.
He had planned to return after the final year of his contract with the Swans in 2009 but brought his timetable forward following a visit to family in Ireland over Christmas.
Kennelly, who made his debut against Carlton in round 14, 2001, played 158 games for the Swans.
