The Brisbane Lions have expressed their disappointment to the AFL over their decision which overrides the agreement between the Lions and the Melbourne Football Club to play a Demons home game at the Gabba in 2008 and 2009.
The AFL announced yesterday that Melbourne would play one home game each year in Canberra in 2007-2009. The AFL has confirmed that Melbourne will play a home game at the Gabba in 2007.
Lions chairman Tony Kelly said the club was angry with the Melbourne Football Club's attitude, given that they had only two years ago signed an agreement to play home games in Brisbane up to and including the 2009 season.
Kelly went on to add that the annulment of the agreement was a backward step for the growth of AFL in Queensland.
