Lovett hearing put on hold
April 1st 2010 04:46

ANDREW Lovett's grievance hearing against St Kilda has been put on hold pending the outcome of criminal proceedings.
The 27-year-old, who was sacked by the Saints a day after he was charged with rape, is seeking a payout of his three-year, million-dollar-plus contract.
A decision on the matter was set to be made on April 1 but the AFL Grievance Tribunal granted applications made by St Kilda and Victoria Police for the hearing to be deferred until Lovett's court case has finished.
The Victorian Goverment Solicitors Office said on behalf of the Chief Commssioner of Victoria Police that a hearing that would rule on the lawfulness of Lovett's sacking could be prejudicial to the trial.
A committal session for Lovett's rape case will be held on May 7.
