COLLINGWOOD has downed Richmond by 28 points in a practice match at Visy Park on Friday afternoon.
John Anthony made a successful return from a post-season shoulder operation with two first-half goals while John McCarthy and Anthony Corrie also chipped in with two majors each in the Magpies' 11.24 (90) to 9.8 (62) victory.
Sharrod Wellingham and star recruit Luke Ball were prolific while draftee Ben Sinclair showed some promising signs.
For the Tigers, Mitch Morton kicked four goals while Matt White and Daniel Jackson won plenty of the football.
Collingwood won the inside 50 count 38-21 in the first half and went into the main break with a commanding 39-point lead after booting 9.10 to 4.1.
The Tigers were more competitive in the third term, reducing the deficit to 25 points at the final change.
Mick Malthouse's men dominated possession in the final stanza but they were unable to find the big sticks as they kicked a staggering 0.13.
Both sides were understrength with the Magpies missing the likes of Leon Davis, Alan Didak, Harry O'Brien, Scott Pendlebury, Dale Thomas, Leigh Brown, Ben Johnson and Dayne Beams while Richmond was without skipper Chris Newman, forward Jack Riewoldt and key midfielders Brett Deledio, Nathan Foley, Ben Cousins and Trent Cotchin.
