Magpies suspend Didak, Shaw

COLLINGWOOD has suspended small forward Alan Didak and defender Heath Shaw for the remainder of the season for lying about their involvement in a drink driving incident on Sunday night.
The suspension includes any potential finals. Didak was also hit with a $5000 fine, while Shaw's $10,000 fine stands.
Collingwood has also suspended Shaw's brother Rhyce for two matches and fined him $5000 for excessive drinking.
Heath Shaw was charged with drink driving after crashing his car in the Melbourne suburb of Kew on Sunday night.
He returned a blood-alcohol reading of .14 after the collision.
Both players told the club on Monday that Didak had arrived on the scene a short time after the accident.
But the Magpies were forced to take further action when it was revealed Didak was in fact the passenger.
Collingwood chief executive Gary Pert said leadership group decided that Shaw and Didak did not deserve to play for the club.
"When you have two of your key players looking the president, the coach and their own teammates in the eye and actually lying to them, it really destroys the essence of the club," Pert said.
"It was decided by the leadership group that these two players actually don't deserve to wear the Collingwood Football Club jumper and that's why they're not playing for the rest of the season."
