After being near certainties for this year's flag, the Crows have hit the wall in the past month.
A lot of experts put it down to Neil Craig's increased training load in the lead-up to the finals, and whether or not the gamble pays off remains to be seen.
The Crows have lost three of their past four, were lucky to get away with the points against the Pies in round 18 and threw away a five-goal lead last Saturday against the Bulldogs at the MCG.
Adelaide coach Neil Craig said during the week that the time for talk and analysis is over, and the Crows need to finally start playing the brand of football which saw them lead the competition for the first half of the season.
With only two weeks of the regular season left, they want to get a move on.
The Crows are clearly missing the versatility of Brett Burton and skipper Mark Ricciutio looked underdone last weekend against the Dogs.
Key defender Nathan Bassett returns from a hamstring injury, while midfielder Hayden Skipworth and the versatile Kris Massie will miss with hamstring and shin injuries respectively.
In some good news, despite the Crows recent poor month of form, they will go into today's clash against Port Adelaide with plenty of confidence having won their last five clashes against Port.
On the other side of town, Port Adelaide will miss the finals for the first time since capturing their first flag in 2004.
Coach Mark Williams openly admits the club is in a re-building phase and their appears to be plenty to look forward to.
The club has four nominees for this year's NAB Rising Star Award; (Danyle Pearce, Brad Symes, Jacob Surjan and Troy Chaplin).
Surjan will miss after going in for season ending surgery on his shoulder during the week, but looks to be a promising prospect for the future.
Despite their position on the ladder, the Power have been in pretty good form over the past fortnight, having beaten the Bulldogs in Darwin and unlucky to upset Collingwood last Friday night at AAMI.
The Power have made it their mission in the closing stages of the season to upset the hopes of finals aspirants, and nothing would please the men from Alberton Oval more than a win over the second-placed Crows.
The midfield will be where this game is won and lost. Shut down the Crows run like the Bulldogs and Eagles have done in recent times and the Power are a show.
The key for Port will be gun Shaun Burgoyne, dubbed by the recently retired Josh Francou as the best player in the competition.
Burgoyne has been in spectacular form in recent weeks, and has the capacity to do the brilliant.
If he is on, he might just be the spark the ignites the Power to cause an upset.
However, with only one more week to go until we are into finals football, there is too much on the line for the Crows.
Craig wants his side to head into September in winning form, and that should start today in a fiery and hard fought contest. Adelaide by 22 points
