Richmond were simply awesome last week in their 82-point demolition of Brisbane.

Admittedly the Lions were inexperienced and depleted by injuries, but it was the direct running brand of football that would have been pleasing to coach Terry Wallace and the Tiger faithful.

Forward Matthew Richardson returned to his best form of the season, with six majors after a season hampered by a wrist injury.

Defender Patrick Bowden provided plenty of run off the half-back line, and collected 19 possessions in the first term in what Wallace labelled the best first quarter he has ever seen by an individual.

The Tigers remain an outside mathematical chance to make the finals, but with such a poor percentage of 84.76, Richmond looks set to just to miss out on the finals once again.

Having said that, there are plenty of positives going forward into the 2007 season.

Forward Nathan Brown has gone to have season-ending surgery and will get another full pre-season under his belt, youngster Andrew Raines is a contender for this year's rising star award and the likes of Cameron Howat, Nathan Foley and Dean Polo have shown they will be AFL regulars.

Meanwhile the Blues find themselves languishing in bottom spot in a tug of war battle with the Bombers for the wooden spoon, but their form in recent months hasn't been as bad as their position suggests.

Carlton recorded an impressive win against Melbourne a fortnight ago, and have been in most of their matches all season, but have just been unable to string together four quarters of football, which was their downfall last week.

The Blues gave the Hawks a seven-goal start, and despite an eight-goal haul to forward Brendon Fevola ended up going down by 23 points.

Fevola has been a revelation this season, and looks set to become the first player to win the Coleman medal from a bottom side since John Peck did so in the 60's.

Like the Tigers, the Blues have plenty of youngsters who promise big things in the future, with the likes of Andrew Carazzo, Kade Simpson and Chris Bryan and Jesse Smith who is making his debut today building a soild core group to build a future side around.

The Tigers have a perfect record against Carlton in their two meetings at the Telstra Dome, and with a plethora of forward options and confidence sky high after last week's performance Richmond should make it three from three with an easy win. Richmond by 38 points.
