Maxwell to miss four
February 17th 2009 08:20
COLLINGWOOD skipper Nick Maxwell will miss at least the first match of the home-and-away season and possibly more depending on how the Magpies perform in the NAB Cup after having his appeal against his four-match suspension thrown out.
Maxwell was initially hit wit a level three rough conduct charge following an incident in which West Coast youngster Patrick McGinnity was left with a broken jaw.
The Magpies produced medical evidence to show that the contact which caused the injury was from an accidental head clash but the tribunal did not accept the explanation and the original penalty stood.
