McVeigh a chance for round one: Dons
March 2nd 2009 06:54
ESSENDON midfielder Mark McVeigh could be fit for the start of the home-and-away season after scans scans today revealed no serious damage to the ankle he injured on Friday night against Brisbane.
The scans showed that McVeigh had suffered a ligament strain in the tibia-fibula joint.
Essendon football operations manager Paul Hamilton said there was now a chance McVeigh could return in time for the round one clash against Port Adelaide on March 29.
"It will depend on how he reacts once we put him on his feet and get him moving on it," he said.
"It could be two weeks, it could be four weeks. We'll find that out as we go along."
