ESSENDON veteran Mark McVeigh has been released from hospital on Friday after a bout of blood poisoning.
The 29-year-old - who will miss Saturday night's vital clash against Carlton at the MCG after being hospitalised for five nights as a result of a cut to his elbow becoming infected - doesn't know when he will return to the side.
"I am feeling okay but I still have a bit to go - I still feel a bit weak," McVeigh told the Bombers' official website.
"My elbow was pretty swollen during the (Fremantle) game and, after the game, I was physically ill and had to go to hospital."
"I just want to play for Essendon and I am pushing as hard as possible to be available as soon as possible."
"I will be staying home all weekend recovering and I want to thank all the family, friends and fans who have wished me well."
