What are Melbourne missing

October 19th 2006 04:32
Once again Melbourne has promised so much and delivered so little.

Two-thirds of the way through the season they were arguably the form side of the competition, along with Adelaide having won 12 of 13.

However, as has been the case for the Demons in recent times the wheels fell off and this was no more evident than against Carlton in round 18, when with a top-four berth up for grabs Melbourne capitulated to lose to the eventual wooden spooners by seven points.

As the records tell us, Melbourne's season ended at the hands of Fremantle in Perth.

A better finish to the last month of the season and the Demons could have sewn up a top four berth and potentially a home preliminary final at the MCG where they lost only once this year to Sydney.

So where do Melbourne need to improve in order to become a genuine premiership contender in '07?
