Misfud joins Bulldogs

October 30th 2006 04:46
The Western Bulldogs have appointed former St Kilda assistant Jason Misfud as the club's Development coach.

The newly created role of Development coach will combine the development of on and off field skills, specialise in assisting first, second and third year players with their development and focus on the club’s alignment with Werribee Football Club.

Mifsud will be heavily involved in the development of all players on and off the field, including the instigation and set-up of development programs in areas such as sports science in conjunction with Victoria University, and computer technology.

Bulldogs coach Rodney Eade said Misfud would be a great asset to the club given his years of experience.

“With over 10 years coaching experience, Jason will be a great asset to our club. I have no doubt that our younger players will benefit greatly from working with him and our entire playing list will gain valuable experience from the initiatives Jason will put in place," Eade said.

Misfud will commence with the club on November 13th.

The Bulldogs have also added another full time assistant to the physical performance area in Luke Meehan and a full time staff member as a football assistant in Nick Austin to work heavily in the area of statistical and opposition analysis and IT, focusing heavily on upcoming opponents.

It's good to see the club creating a role like this. It's great to see the clubs wanting to help their young players become well rounded individuals not just great players who can't do anything else once their footy career is over.

Absolutely. The average career of an AFL player is only 2.9 years so they need something to fall back on once their football career comes to an end.

Wow, is that all? That's really short!! And when you consider that for probably the 15 years before your career is over, football is what you've eaten, slept and breathed. No wonder so many ex-players were compoletely lost when they finished up playing footy.

Oh, oh, meant to ask. Haven't had a chance to check back on dategal's blog. Have you had your pic rated on that hotornot site???

I didn't have a photo of me at my pc, so I haven't put myself up there. I'm going to dig up a photo though and I'll put it on there. I'll let you know how I go!
