No easy solution, says Malthouse

COLLINGWOOD coach Mick Malthouse says there is no easy solution to his side's current woes following the Pies' 54-point loss to Hawthorn at the MCG on Friday night.
The Magpies have now lost five of their past seven and could find themselves as low as 10th by the end of the round if results go against them.
"There's no easy solution. When you're nine and nine (wins and losses) and we haven't won a game in three weeks, there's no easy solution," Malthouse said.
"We are constantly, like every other side from probably fourth to 12th or 13th, we're all under pressure because very game is so important."
"The top sides can generally hold their own but we are clearly one of the middle-ranked sides and you fluctuate accordingly when you do that."
The Magpies were made to look slow by the Hawks for most of the night but Malthouse said a lack of pace wasn't their problem.
"I would say, yes we lack confidence and yes when you chase all day you do look slow," Malthouse said.
"That's the way it is. But when you move the ball correctly or in a positive manner with confidence you don't look slow."
The Magpies face fellow top-eight contenders St Kilda at the MCG next Saturday night in what is a must-win match and Malthouse said it was important for his players to continue to believe in themselves.
"It'll turn so long as the players believe. That's why every week you go in with some confidence because you just know at some stage and you keep at it and keep at it, the good people that are good players will turn it around at some stage," he said.
"And that's what you look for, as a coach, a support group, the supporters, that's what you demand and try to achieve."
