CARLTON defender Setanta O'hAilpin has been hit with a four-match ban by the AFL match review panel for his attack on teammate Cameron Cloke during last Friday's intra-club match at Visy Park.
O'hAilpin, who has been stood down indefintely by the Blues, was charged with a level four striking offence and a level two kicking offence.
The match review panel viewed the strike as intentional conduct, medium impact and high contact, which equates to 325 demerit points.
The kick, which occurred as Cloke was lying on the ground was ruled as being intentional, low impact and body contact resulting in 250 points.
If O'hAilpin pleads guilty to both offences his total points are 431.25 points, which equates to a four-match ban that must be served during the home-and-away season.
Meanwhile, new Collingwood skipper Nick Maxwell could miss the start of the home-and-away season after being hit with a three-match ban for engaging in rough conduct during the Magpies' first-round NAB Cup win over West Coast at Subiaco Oval on Saturday night.
Maxwell's front-on bump on Eagles' youngster Patrick McGinnity was ruled as negligent conduct, high impact and high contact, which equates to 325 points.
But Maxwell's poor record meant his tally rose 440.31 points, so even if he enters a guilty plea he is still facing a three-match ban.
In some good news for Maxwell, the penalty can be served during the NAB Cup because that is the competition in which the incident took place.
So if the Pies make it all the way to the NAB Cup grand final Maxwell will be free to play in the first round of the home-and-away season.
