COLLINGWOOD has dealt a blow to Adelaide's finals hopes with a 32-point win at the MCG on Saturday afternoon.
The Magpies trailed by as much as 28 points in the second term but lifted late and ran over the top of the Crows in the second half to record a 15.16 (106) to 11.8 (74) victory.
The Crows have now lost their past four and could slump to as low as seventh place on the AFL ladder if Brisbane defeat Essendon at Telstra Dome tonight.
The loss was made worse for Adelaide with forwards Jason Porpylzia and Brett Burton suffering shoulder and knee injuries respectively.
Poryplzia dislocated his shoulder at the 12-minute mark of the first term while Burton appeared to rupture his anterior cruciate ligament in the second half.
Burton's left knee buckled underneath him when he tried to change direction while contesting with Collingwood defender Harry O'Brien early in the third quarter.
Paul Medhurst starred for the Magpies with 19 possessions, ten marks and five goals while Rhyce Shaw generated plenty of run with a team-high 32 disposals and one goal.
Chris Knight's was Adelaide's best with a game-high 37 possessions and one goal. Scott Thompson (36 disposals) tried hard all day while Burton booted four first-half goals.
Despite losing Poryplzia the Crows stamped their authority on the contest in the opening term, booting the first three goals of the match.
Collingwood responded with the next two through Chris Bryan and Rhyce Shaw but an Ivan Maric major ensured the Crows took a nine-point advantage into the first change.
Burton was on fire in the second term, booting three goals as the Crows skipped out to a 28-point lead at the 13-minute mark.
But Collingwood hit back with five of the last six goals of the term to cut the deficit to just three points at half-time.
The Magpies continued their dominance after the main break, slamming on three unanswered goals to take a handy 16-point lead into the final change before steamrolling the Crows with four of the first five goals of the last quarter.
