Port too good for Crows

PORT ADELAIDE has bounced back from the humiliating loss to St Kilda with a 26-point win over Adelaide in Showdown XXVI at AAMI Stadium on Saturday.
Port’s 15.5 (105) to 12.7 (79) victory sees them take a 14-12 lead in Showdowns.
The Power smashed the Crows at the clearances and moved the football quickly through the middle of the ground as they cruised to their fourth win of the season.
Port ruckman Dean Brogan won the Showdown medal for his 27 hit outs and 16 possessions while Kane Cornes was influential with a game-high 37 disposals.
Steven Salopek showed his class with 33 quality possessions while Chad Cornes was also damaging with 27 touches and two goals.
Port shared the load in front of goal with Warren Tredrea, Daniel Motlop and Robert Gray booting three goals apiece.
For Adelaide, Bernie Vince, Tyson Edwards and Nathan van Berlo won plenty of the football while Nathan Bock was busy in defence with 26 possessions.
The Crows started brightly, kicking the first two goals of the match in the opening six minutes through Jason Porplyzia and Scott Thompson before the Power steadied through Tredrea who kicked two goals for the quarter to help his side to a 10-point lead at the first change.
Port should have been further in front at quarter-time but they failed to make the most of their chances in front of goal, booting a wasteful 3.4 for the term.
Motlop kicked the first goal of the second term but the Crows hit back through Vince who booted two in as many minutes to reduce the deficit to just four points.
But the Power had all the answers, booting four of the last five goals of the first half to open up a 22-point advantage at the main break.
Both sides traded goals in an even third term as the Port went into the final change with a 31-point lead.
The result should have been well and truly beyond doubt at three-quarter time but the Power let Adelaide off the hook with their poor kicking in front of goal - they managed 3.6 for the term.
The Crows needed to get off to a fast start in the final stanza but it was Port who came out firing, slamming on the first three goals to blow the margin out to 44 points at the 10-minute mark.
Adelaide refused to give in and kicked four of the last five goals of the match but it was too little too late.
