PORT ADELAIDE has maintained its dominance over Essendon with a nail-biting three-point win at Etihad Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The Power trailed by 21 points midway through the third quarter but were within striking distance at the final change with the Bombers holding just a two-goal advantage before booting four majors to two in the last term to record a 17.7 (109) to 16.10 (106) win.
Port has now won six consecutive matches against the Dons and 12 of the last 13.
It was the Power's fifth victory of 2010 while Essendon slumps to 2-5.
Danyle Pearce was instrumental in the win with 29 possessions and two goals in what was his 100th game while Kane Cornes also collected 29 disposals.
Brett Ebert, Daniel Motlop and Justin Westhoff booted three goals apiece.
For the Bombers, skipper Jobe Watson led from the front with 31 touches, Angus Monfries (25, three goals) was also impressive while Scott Gumbleton managed three majors.
